Project Scope

This project entails organizing a series of reminiscence activities for care home residents, not limited to music. The apprentice would coordinate sessions that include sharing stories, looking at old photographs, and participating in themed activities that evoke memories of different life stages.

Project Activities

  • Develop a series of activities focused on reminiscence therapy, such as music sessions, storytelling, and photo sharing.

  • Partner with local historians, storytellers, or music therapists to provide meaningful content and guidance.

  • Collect old photographs, music, and artifacts that reflect the eras most relevant to the residents' youth and young adulthood.

  • Organise themed sessions around specific decades, cultural events, or personal milestones to evoke memories.

  • Encourage family members to participate or contribute personal stories and items that could resonate with the residents.

  • Train volunteers or staff on how to effectively facilitate these sessions, focusing on sensitivity and engagement.

  • Create platforms or sessions where residents can share their own stories and experiences.

  • Implement a system to gather feedback from participants and care home staff to refine the program.
